This painting was inspired by those moments when you pause and look out of a window, taking in the world beyond. I love the contrast between the quiet comfort of being indoors and the life, colour and movement happening outside.
I wanted to play with the beautiful contrast of cool, muted tones within the room against the warmth and vibrancy of the city at sunset. The sky almost takes on a life of its own, with layers of colour that draw your eye towards the distant skyline.
Using loose, expressive brushstrokes and a playful mix of colours, I wanted to capture more than just a view of the city. It's about the feeling of that moment — a little stillness, a little wonder, and the beauty of seeing something familiar in a different light.
A reminder that sometimes the most beautiful views are found in the simplest of moments.
